Scar Revision
A scar is often an unavoidable result of an operation, traumatic injury or burn, and its development can be unpredictable. Poor healing may also contribute to a scar that is visibly obvious or unsightly. Even a wound that heals well can result in a scar that affects your appearance, self-esteem or ability to be comfortable in an intimate setting. These scars may be raised, recessed, or may vary in color or texture from surrounding healthy skin causing them to be particularly noticeable.
If you are bothered by the appearance a scar on your face or body, you may be a candidate for scar revision. Scar revision options include use of topical agents including silicone, steroids, anti-inflammatory agents, retinol based skin care systems, Broad Band Light (BBL) therapy, full field or fractional erbium laser treatments, microneedling with PRP's and finally, surgical excision with advanced closure techniques.

How is the procedure performed?
Topical agents including silicone, steroid, sunscreen or retinol based skin care system can be applied at home at your own convenience. For laser or surgical procedures, a potent topical anesthetic cream is placed on your face or body, at the location where the treatment will occur, when you arrive at our office. Your laser treatment will commence once your treatment area is numb. For surgical scar excisions, a tiny needle is used to inject local anesthetic. The scar is then removed as an ellipse, and the wound is closed in layers to create a fine line. Advanced scar therapy is then commenced to optimize the appearance of your new closure.
