Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Lymphatic drainage massage involves gently manipulating specific areas of injured lymphatics, to help fluid move to areas with working lymph vessels.

Normally, your lymphatic system removes fluid left behind after your cardiovascular system sends blood with nutrients and oxygen to your tissues and organs. This fluid is called lymph. The lymphatic system is a network of lymph vessels and lymph nodes which channel this lymph fluid and then return it to your heart.

After surgery, your lymphatic system may become temporarily disrupted and your tissues retain fluid at the surgical site and in your arms and legs, making them swell. By reducing the swelling and fluid build up, lymphatic drainage massage can speed up your recovery. Untreated fluid build up can cause fibrosis, where prolonged swelling and bruising can result in hardening of the skin and underlying tissues.

Importance of Lymphatic drainage massage:
Can reduce post-op swelling and pain for a 50% quicker recovery
Promotes better overall results
Can result in a reduction of soreness
Can help detoxify and cleanse tissues by flushing out toxins
May help you relax and feel energized
