Buttock Lift (Back Lift)

Buttock Lift (Back Lift)

Buttock Lift or Back lift is a procedure which includes the removal of excess skin and fat from the lateral thighs, back and buttocks.  The incision is a posterior extension of your prior abdominoplasty incision continuing all the way around your back.  The incision is designed to be hidden beneath the bikini line in women and the underwer line in men.  The procedure is used to remove excess skin and fat from the lower back as well as lift the buttocks and lateral thighs to give you an improved body contour. It is typically performed as a staged procedure following an abdominoplasty (panniculectomy) in major weight loss patients.    Depending upon your anatomy fat may be grafted to round the buttocks after it is lifted, which is considered a buttock augmentation, please see buttock augmentation for further information and ask Dr. Capuano if this is right for you.

Is This Surgery Right For Me?

The majority of the patients who are candidates for this procedure are typically major weight loss patients.  However, this procedure is also helpful to combat the effects of gravity, aging and loss of skin elasticity on your back and buttocks.

Body contouring procedures are helpful if you are frustrated with the sagging skin in your lower body.  The best candidates for lower body lifts are patients who have lost over 50 pounds due to bariatric surgery or dieting, who are non-smokers, who are at a stable weight for over 1 year, and who have loose, excess skin in their lower body that restricts their mobility or causes painful rashes or chafing.  Other excellent candidates include people in whom pregnancy or aging have left them with loose skin and fat below the waistline, on their abdomen, anterior and lateral thighs, hips, and back.  Candidates for lower body lift must be willing to accept a thin circumferential scar around their waist.
